The aim of the Pupil Parliament is to promote pupil leadership opportunities, enabling children to develop valuable communication, organisation and debating skills through key roles of responsibility and new experiences.

Each committee runs meetings with clear agendas where members take on different roles and responsibilities.  These will be scheduled assembly times each term.   The Chair Person sets the agenda and leads the meetings, the Secretary takes the minutes and the Treasurer is responsible for the committee’s budget.  The committee members work together on their chosen projects, lead meetings with their own classes and discuss challenges and resolutions with different members of staff.  This is to ensure that the views of the school are listened to, debated and acted upon so that the Pupil Parliament gets the best outcome for every project.

We are the RE Committee

Our aim is to inspire active faith and community service in students, nurturing their spiritual growth through engaging in religious activities.

We are the Wellbeing Committee

Our aim is to make our school a place where everyone feels happy, safe, and included. The Wellbeing Committee listens to ideas and turns them into real actions that help everyone feel even more cared for and supported!

We are the Eco Committee

Our aim is to make the school eco-friendly.

We are the Art Committee

Our aim is to promote art across the school.

 We are the Food Committee

Our aim is to encourage healthy and sustainable diets for everyone in the school.

We are the Outdoor Environment Committee

Our aim is to plan and run more house events. To show respect and encouragement towards other houses.

 We are the Fundraising Committee

Our aim is to create fun fundraising opportunities that benefit the school.

We are the Reading Committee

Our aim is to encourage children at St Hugh's to have a passion for reading different types of texts.

 We are the Sports Committee

Our aim is to encourage everyone to love sport, improve their skills and show fairness, encouragement and respect along the way.

We are the Computing Committee

Our aim is to encourage everyone to embrace technology and understand the importance of e-safety.

Our aim is to promote school values and represent St Hugh of Lincoln School, to show how amazing it is. We also support the school parliament to make sure everyone is heard.

 

Parliament Update 9,10,24

On Wednesday 9th October, the whole school took part in an exciting Pupil Parliament meeting, showcasing leadership opportunities and giving every pupil a voice. The Pupil Parliament encourages children to develop key skills like communication, organisation, and debating through important roles and new experiences.

Each committee - led by a Chairperson, Secretary, and Treasurer - held meetings with clear agendas. From promoting healthy eating in the Food Committee to inspiring eco-friendly actions through the Eco Committee, members work together to make positive changes. During the meeting, pupils discussed projects and challenges, ensuring everyone's views are considered.

Committees like Wellbeing, Sports, Art, and Reading, amongst others, are helping to shape the future of the school. Whether it's planning events, improving school life, or encouraging creativity, the Pupil Parliament is truly making a difference for all students at St Hugh’s!

Parliament Update 6,11,24

Our Pupil Parliament Committee ambassadors recently shared their exciting plans for this term in a whole-school assembly. The RE Committee will enhance the Prayer Garden and lead activities for St. Hugh’s Feast Day. The Eco Committee is organising a toy donation sale to promote recycling, while the Wellbeing Committee is creating resources for families on phone use and wellbeing. Other initiatives include a lunchtime Art Club, playground book stalls, and a raffle featuring second-hand items. We’re also exploring ways to encourage the use of fair trade foods through the efforts of the Food Committee. It's wonderful to see children taking such an active role in improving our school. Great work, parliament teams!
